Mid-Victorian, c. 1860
This exquisite mid-Victorian locket pendant features a miniature black and white painting on ivory under an oval cabochon glass. The finely painted miniature depicts a trio of cherubs in a garden scene. Beautifully detailed! A glass door on the back of the locket opens to reveal a compartment that would have been used to keep a lock of a loved one's hair or a special keep sake. Made in France, circa 1860, this piece is created in gilt silver and set with dozens of tiny pearls, all in place with none missing. There is no chain with this pendant. This superb romantic jewel is one of the most beautiful treasures I have offered for sale.
