This exquisite French 19th century Georgian style bow pendant, purchased in an antique shop in Paris, features a finely hand painted portrait of Marie Antoinette that replicates the famous Marie Antoinette with a Rose portrait painted by Elisabeth Vigee Le Brun in 1783. The hand painted portrait is under beveled glass and is surrounded by a silver frame of flowering garlands set with sparkling point/single cut white sapphires (tested). Gemstones set in silver was the norm during this period in jewelry history.
This rare and beautiful portrait pendant is an exceptional piece of historical jewelry and I have yet to find a similar piece in my research.
